MATHER, Sacramento County — Sacramento County’s Mather Field Public Facilities Financing Plan increased development impact fees effective March 2, 2026, a change that can affect commercial and residential projects within the program’s geographic boundaries.
The county’s published schedule shows a 1.001% increase. For example, the fee for transition housing rose from $679 to $686 per dwelling unit, while the light-industrial rate changed from $3.99 to $4.03 per building square foot. Different uses have different methods of calculation, and the new fee schedule is not a flat tax on existing homes.
The impact fees are generally assessed during permits for qualifying development. The county provides a map of the covered Mather Field financing-plan area, so applicants should check property boundaries before assuming a listed rate applies.
Practical information for residents
Builders and property owners should obtain a current written fee calculation from Sacramento County before preparing a project budget. The county lists its Special Districts Section at 916-874-6525 for questions about the program and applicable units.
